Between the Years
Between the years, the clocks stand still,
Twelve quiet nights, the world holds its breath.
No names for time, no weight of will,
Just shadows learning how to rest.
Old doors are closed, the fire burns low,
The noise of days has lost its claim.
What we don’t say begins to grow,
What we don’t face still knows our name.
Lay down the rush, the measured days,
Let the silence speak its truth.
There’s a path you cannot chase—
It waits for you.
This is the time outside of time,
Where endings learn to bend.
Where darkness hums a quiet rhyme
And beginnings find their end.
Between the years, between the light,
We pause, we listen, we remain.
Not running from the night—
But walking through it, unafraid.
They said the spirits crossed the land,
With bells and fur and winter breath.
But what we fear is close at hand—
The voices born inside our chest.
No spinning wheels, no restless hands,
No cloth to hang, no words to prove.
Only the heart that understands
What it must lose to move.
The old year knocks, the new stands near,
Neither one demands a name.
What we carry follows here—
What we release won’t stay the same.
This is the time outside of time,
Where endings learn to bend.
Where darkness hums a quiet rhyme
And beginnings find their end.
Between the years, between the light,
We pause, we listen, we remain.
Not running from the night—
But walking through it, unafraid.
Fear not the storm that walks outside,
Fear what you never let inside.
The hunt is not in wind or snow—
It’s in the things you will not know.
Breathe in the smoke, let burdens rise,
What fades away still taught you why.
Every door that softly ends
Is how the future learns to begin.
This is the time outside of time,
No task to prove, no score to win.
Only the quiet, only the sign
That life begins when we begin.
Between the years, between the flame,
We stand where loss and hope align.
Every beginning knows its name—
When we dare to pause in time.
Twelve nights, one breath, the year turns slow.
We let go…
And so we go.
