Deep Impacts

Deep Impacts

Sunday evening in the fading light
A fire cut the sky in silent flight
From Mainz to Darmstadt phones began to ring
A burning stone — a warning from the wing

A bicycle rider heard the thunder fall
A hole in the roof, stone in the wall
A moment’s fear, a miracle instead
The world kept turning, no one dead

They said it was rare
Just a visitor from space
But something in the air
Whispered change was on its way

Deep impacts falling from the sky
Fire across the night
Stones that shake the earth below
And turn the dark to light

Deep impacts — the heavens cry
A warning to mankind
In the storm of falling stars
The truth we finally find

Another stone on the Swabian hills
A burning barn and silent chills
Fragments raining on the roads
Shattered glass and heavy loads

Through April skies the streaks would burn
A restless world began to turn
Seismographs began to write
A rhythm hidden in the night

The prophets spoke
And the old stones cried
Of a test for every soul
No place to hide

Deep impacts falling from the sky
Fire across the night
Stones that shake the earth below
And turn the dark to light

Deep impacts — the heavens cry
A warning to mankind
In the storm of falling stars
The truth we finally find

Then oceans rose and mountains broke
The earth itself began to choke
Ash and thunder filled the air
A trembling world in silent prayer

But in the dark a light appeared
A golden calm that conquered fear
A hand above the shattered land
Peace returning once again

Deep impacts once shook the sky
Fire across the night
But through the storm the world could see
The hidden path of light

Deep impacts changed the human heart
From fear to something new
For in the end the sky revealed
The good in me and you
